Turn time (TAT)
Turn time is the elapsed time between a unit arriving at a repair facility and being released back to the customer.
Quoted turn time depends on shop capacity, workscope, material availability and, frequently, on a single long-lead component within the unit.
Because customers plan maintenance and fleet availability around it, a missed turn time damages the relationship more than a higher price would have.
Turn time promised without regard to shop load and material lead times is the most common source of avoidable customer escalation in repair sales.
